Things that would never have crossed my mind 10 years ago.

I guess I never realized how dependent on my phone I really am. Yesterday I left my phone at work and didn’t notice until I stepped foot into my apartment. Now granted I only live a 30 minute subway ride away from where I work, but regardless I wasn’t making the trek back to Cambridge.

The first issue I ran into was making calls. OK, this is obvious but without a LAN line in my apartment and with my roommate in South Caroline I was ‘trapped’ for the next 16 hours without the ability to make or receive phone calls. WHAT IF I CHOKED ON A HOT DOG OR A GRAPE?! HOW WAS I GOING TO CALL 911. I DON’T EVEN THINK BOSTON HAS PAYPHONES ANYMORE!

Now with that issue aside I realized another point. I don’t have an alarm clock. I use my phone to wake me up in the morning. I started to panic that I would sleep in and miss work, it even crossed my mind that I might have to stay up all night. Well, silly me, there’s software out there to download for free called AlarmClock that will actually play songs from your iTunes library to wake you up. Let it be known, I tested the thing like 5 times to make sure it would work even if my computer went to sleep.

Now the last thing, and this is probably the most minor of all, I don’t wear a watch. So on my way to work this morning, while waiting on the redline platform at Park St. I was unable to check my phone and see just how late I was going to be (I usually come in past 9, but then again most people don’t show up at my office until close to 10). So next time I take off from work in such a hurry, I’ll most definitely do a double check to see if I have my phone because honestly, and not to quote Charisse from Dr Doolittle 2 or anything but, What’m I s’pposed to do widdout my celllllllphone?!

…and the worst part, I only had one missed call, and it was from a co-worker!
